Leaves: in pairs, 3 - 5 or 6 inches long, tips pointed, sharp to touch, 12 - 14 lines of stomata, very dense

Buds: 1/2" - 1" long, abrupted to a sharp point, light brown and white, very obvious even from a distance

Branches: roughened by persistant leaf bases as the leaves are lost
