• The pictures above show the Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall habit of the Acer saccharum - Sugar Maple Tree.
• Pictures are of the same tree, taken from different positions. Notice how the lower branches get closer to the ground as the seasons progress.
• The shape of the leaves of the Sugar maple are longer than they are broad. They are similar to the leaves of the Norway maple, but the Norway has leaves that are broader than they are long.
• The picture on the left shows several clusters of flowers, shortly after they've emerged. Both male flowers and female flowers are visible. In the photo on the right, most of the flowers are male.
• The Sugar maple has winged fruit that grows in pairs. (samaras) At first the covering of the seed is dark green and the wings are a lighter green. Later, the wings become dry and turn brown and the seed covering becomes a lighter green.
